Can i see reviews about Continence Confidence?

As an AHPRA Registered Nurse service we need to be mindful -

APHRA has strict rules and legal requirements regarding client reviews and testimonials.

All Health Professionals (OT's, Physio's, Podiatrists, Chiropractors, Doctors etc) must abide by this too.

It is not appropriate for a client review or testimonial to say something like - "I have a urinary catheter because of my paralysis and Amanda helps me with regular changes and it's made me feel so much better, I haven't had any problems".

A client review can only go so far as a comment about the service - "Their waiting room is comfortable and their magazines are recent!"

We work with a variety of clients

We are able to provide consistency with having a regular catheter change with a regular nurse in regional SA. We also promote evidence based information to support our practice.

We are good but not that good...

We are currently 'unregistered' NDIS providers so we can help plan & self managed participants, BUT we ensure solid policies & procedures are in place to ensure a quality service.

We don't help with: day-time toilet training or training carers how to do nursing tasks eg suppositories. We also don't sell any continence products. We are not suppliers. See below.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question. You might come up with a great question we can add to this list!

Yes absolutely, we must have relevant Police Clearances, Working with Children Clearances, Disability related, AHPRA (Nursing) registration, Public Liability & Professional Indemnity Insurances, full Drivers Licence, Comprehensive car insurance. We also undertake related training modules as required by NDIS Quality & Safeguards. It's not an NDIS requirement to have policies and procedures in place as we are currently 'unregistered provider', but we do because we have high standards for our service delivery.

Yes, we can help Self-Managed and Plan-Managed participants. Unfortunately at this time we can't help Agency-Managed participants as we are not yet a "Registered Provider". We are not currently assisting Aged Care clients at this time as we don't have any contracts with MAC/CHSP providers. We can also assist fee-paying or compensable clients, so please contact us for a quote.

  • Continence Assessments - for Adults & Children - discuss bladder & bowel concerns, product review, advice, letter of support for funding needs.
  • Arranging samples of containment products, uridomes, catheter products - to trial
  • Catheter Assessments - indwelling (IDC) male & female and suprapubic (SPC) and intermittent catheter use (IC)
  • Catheter changes ongoing (IDC, SPC) - limited capacity.
  • Catheter troubleshooting advice - sometimes catheters need some expert tips.
  • Education sessions - speaking with small groups and also at professional study days

  • Children's DAY time toilet training (Paediatric focused OT might be better fit)
  • Wound & Ostomy Care - general.
  • Competency Training for Support Workers (eg to educate SW's to provide nursing tasks like administering rectal laxatives, using intermittent catheters on a client). We are unable to supervise SW's on an frequent & ongoing basis as required by NDIS in order to 'delegate a task' from an RN to a SW. We are providing general training education sessions and mentoring for continence related skills. In the meantime, please contact a Registered Training Organisation for this type of training.
  • We are not a retailer or medical supplier - we don't sell or endorse any particular brand of products. Products like pads, catheters, drain bags etc are individual choices, as to what works best for you. We can certainly make suggestions on products that we think will suit you and arrange pad samples from the manufacturers.

It is an AHPRA requirement that we complete at least 20hrs of self-education each year. We attend local & interstate study days, conferences, online learning via webinars, read books & journals, catch up with product company rep's to learn about new product ranges and keep study records in case we are audited!

We are also proud members of the following professional bodies -

  • Continence Foundation of Australia (CFA)
  • Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA)
  • International Continence Society (ICS)
  •  South Australian Country Women's  Association (SACWA)

Amanda is the business founder & owner. She commenced the business "Continence Confidence" in June 2021 as a sole trader. Her ABN is: 25 745 602 605, including 'registered for GST' status. We are a proudly South Aussie owned & operated girl-powered small business!

No - my business is my own. I am not affiliated with any continence product manufacturer, medical supplier, products distributors or the like. I am proud to be independent so I can honestly say I don't have any bias or kickbacks benefits. Occasionally, I might receive a small payment or gift eg for giving an educational talk. I always try to adhere to my principles of honesty, integrity, quality and trustworthiness. Unfortunately, there are always bad apples in every bunch that spoil things for the rest of us trying to provide a decent, caring service. If anything changes, I will declare it.
